Since the 2018 Campfire, Kastlerock Ranch has been closed. We have been helping the Paradise Community during the aftermath of the fire by allowing Friends United in Rescue to house the cats they rescued at Kastlerock Ranch after the fire and helped Friends United in Rescue reunite the cats with their previous owners.

During the time when the clean-up began, and which has taken many years to accomplish, we had one idea in mind. That was to bring Kastlerock Ranch back to the Paradise Community. The Kastlerock Ranch facilities are being upgraded with Powder River Livestock Equipment as of this date, April 2023.

Summer and Year Round Programs

Our programs can offer your child, entire family, or yourself a fun recreation that teaches the skill of riding and horsemanship. Being involved in horses is unlike any other activity or sport. Horses are not only fun, they are mindful teachers. Participants are teamed with an animal which they learn to understand and respect. When entering the world of horses, the trials and tribulations of the world disappear, and is replaced with a satisfaction of accomplishment. Tom and Bill Dorrence "The Fathers of Natural Horsemanship" have a major influence in the design of our horsemanship programs.Their influence can be seen today with people like Ray Hunt, and Buck Brannaman.

Kastlerock Ranch incorporates aspects of EAL and EFL methods into the horsemanship programs of for a more rounded lifestyle. Equine-Assisted Learning (EAL) is an effective approach to human and leadership development in which horses play a key educational role. Equine Facilitated Learning (EFL) is experiential, which means that participants learn by doing and that the horse is the facilitator; a living breathing being who helps to direct the session, rather than simply an object.

CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS

All counselors are adults and have extensive experience with horses. Kastlerock Ranch provides well trained horses who have experience working with children and novices. Participants receive daily instruction, both on horseback and around horses, learning proper etiquette, safety, and care of the animals. Each session has a limited number of students to ensure plenty of personal attention.

FAMILY PROGRAMS

The family Program is a natural extension of the children’s program where as family members gain instruction from the councilors in private lessons and from their children participating in the group family lesson. This sport allows for the entire family to participate and interact with each other creating a deeper relationship with each other and it is also a fun fitness program for all.

EQUINE THERAPY PROGRAM

Equine-Assisted Therapy (EAT) which is a treatment that includes equine activities and/or an equine environment in order to promote physical, occupational, and emotional growth in persons suffering from PTSD, ADD, Anxiety, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Dementia, Depression, Developmental Delay...., which requires involvement of your therapist each session. Research has confirmed the effectiveness of equine therapy, showing that it lowers blood pressure, heart rate, alleviates stress, and reduces symptoms of anxiety and depression.

FUTURE EVENTS

To Be Announced

I have helped riders who thought they had a "horse problem", but I tell them the horse is having a "people problem".

These riders do not seem to realize that the horse thinks he is supposed to do just what he is doing; even though the horse doesn't know why or what it is for. He is sure he is supposed to do it and does all he possibly can to do it.
