Star's Story

Mary and Trinity enjoying their time with the horse

Star’s story is much like Robbie’s journey shaped by survival, resilience, and the healing power of trust. She was rescued alongside her family of horses after living feral and free in the mountains of Butte County near the Nimshew Gold Mine, where life was wild, uncertain, and untouched.

Yet even in those early days, Star carried something special within her: a gentle spirit that, with patience and love, would one day shine brightly. Before the devastating 2018 Paradise Camp Fire changed everything and destroyed the ranch, Star had already begun an important part of her journey—she had been trained to work with children. That early foundation revealed her kind heart and her natural ability to connect. While the fire interrupted so much, it could not erase the progress she had made or the promise she kept.

Through hardship, consistency, and compassionate care, Star continued forward. Her story is not only about what she endured, but about what she overcame. She stands as a beautiful reminder that even after loss, growth is still possible, and that strength can live side by side with gentleness. Today, Star represents hope and accomplishment. She is a horse whose past speaks of survival, but whose future shines with purpose. Having already shown that she can be a wonderful partner for children, Star’s journey inspires everyone who meets her, a testament to the extraordinary things that can happen when patience, trust, and love are given the chance to grow.
